Connecting Tech Pros Worldwide

About Us

Bytes.com is an online community that acts as a venue for Information Technology (IT) Professionals to share knowledge and network with other tech professionals.

  • Bytes are a unit of measurement of information storage (wikipedia).

The job of almost every tech professional falls somewhere along the lines of creating, maintaining, storing and delivering  information.  Information is at the center of what we do.

The Bytes Community is a group of people who've come together to share their know how, resources and passion about the ever expanding IT (Information Technology) space.

Our Community Values

Be willing to learn.  Be willing to share.

Learning

    • Be willing to learn.  Information Technology covers a broad body of knowledge.  There will be many times in your career when you won't know the answers.   Having an open mind about learning from anything or anyone will help you go a long way in this field.  Technology changes faster than we can keep track of.  Be willing to learn.  Be respectful of those who are spending the time to teach you.

Sharing

    • Be willing to share.  One of the greatest things about the IT field is the way it has increased the flow of information on a micro and macro level.  It's the constant flow of information that allows us to continue to innovate.  We can iterate over every new innovation to create another innovation.  That flow of information is vital.  As professionals we should be open to sharing information and teaching.  Not only is it vital for what we do, but it's also a great way to gain better understanding.  Teaching is the best way to learn.

That's what we do at Bytes!  We work on creating a platform and venue where you as professionals can learn, share and connect with other professionals in the industry.

History

Bytes started as the online community focused on developers and programmers called "TheScripts.com".  TheScripts.com website has been online since 1996 and is now known as Bytes IT Community.

Why jump from developers to all of IT?

  • It's all connected.  Developers deploy applications on  hardware that more often than not sits on a network. The tech professional of today knows that development know-how is just one of many tools necessary to deliver solutions to his or her clients/organization.
