Link Tables problem....Way too slow to operate.

We have an internal network of 3 users.
Myself & one other currently have individual copies of the front-end
MS Access forms and via our individual ODBC links we have used the:

File > Get External Data > Link Tables > select ODBC Databases
facility to link to our back-end MySQL Server. On both our machines
the tables appear in the window very quickly and if we hit 'Select
All', all the tables start loading really quickly into our front-ends.
This works perfectly.

The problem is that with the 3rd user, the Import facility works, but
each table takes about 30 seconds to link in and then eventually when
you try to run the app on their machine, it is so slow you just cannot
use it.

I just upgraded their MS Access to XP but this made no difference.
Their PC is very new and also loaded with windows.

Is there a fix for this as I need them to use this program, but I just
cannot fix it.

If all the PCs are set up identically, then I would suspect the network
rather than the software. Access is hyper-sensitive to network issues and
problems can sometimes be traced back to the network card installed in the
problem PC.

Try one or more of these ideas, to see if it is a network problem:
1. Swap the slow PC with a PC which is working normally. In other words,
leave the network cards where they are, but swap the network cables. Which
PC is now slow? If the same PC is slow, suspect the card. If the fast PC is
now slow, suspect something further down the network.

2. Swap the network cards between a fast PC and the slow PC. In other words,
use the same network cables, but swap the internal network cards. Does the
slowness travel with the card, or does it stay with the slow PC? If it
follows the card, that card is flakey and should be replaced. If the same PC
is slow, you have a problem with the PC setup somewhere and that will be
very difficult to diagnose in this ng.

Doug probably has you on the right track to diagnosing the problem, but you
might need to check configuration issues. Are all of the systems in the
same domain? Are they all using the same mechanism to resolve the IP
address of the server? Host files the same? DNS server the same?
