Memory Error Message

1 New Member
I have worked on this for sometime.......and I am so lost now........could someone please tell me how to look for or fix a message I keep getting......this is what I get:::

The instruction at "0x62308e19" referenced memory at "0x021b38c8".
They memory could not be "read"

Please if anyone has any ideas of how to fix this could you please tell me. I'm at the point where if I can't find out myself how to fix it I'll have to put computer in shop.
Not to mention I bought two programs off line all ready claiming to "fix" errors only to have them not do it.

thanks!

My first thought would be to check your computer for Adware especially, and also for worm/virus activity. Search and/or repair software which comes to mind is AdAware, SpyBot Search & Destroy, um... can't think of any more just now. Adware (not AdAware) has a well-earned reputation for causing weird and (otherwise) inexplicible crashes.

This is usually caused by a program getting its knickers in a twist.
The (NT based) OS allocates memory to processes in a clever and organised way.
In the usual run of things, a program will only try to access memory that has been assigned to it. Unfortunately, every now and again (software is buggy or is running in a situation it was never designed to cope with) a program will try to access memory (or even code sometimes) which is beyond its assigned boundaries. This will cause a 'Protection Exception (Int 13)' and the error message you've seen will come up.
The causes of this are so varied that it is practically impossible even to hazard an intelligent guess at what's causing it.

Can someone plz help me I've worked on this computer all day and I've even called the tech support and it isn't fixed and its driving me nuts!!! I can access my home page and other web sites, but when I go into pogo to play a game it will click into the site, but once I click on the game I want to play. The screen pops up saying its loading then all of a sudden it disappears and disconnects the internet connection and comes back with an error message reading...as follows:

The instruction at 0x7c901010" referenced memory at 0x000001c". The memory could not be read.

Can someone plz help me fix this? The tech stated something about our memory but we just put more memory in it earlier this year. Then, he stated something about coroad files...which we have done a restore on it and it still will be doing the same thing. You go into pogo.com click which game you want to play the screen pops up stating its loading then POOF its gone and so is the internet connection.

Both the original author and the hijacker need to state Operating System and Service Pack, Application (in hijackers case IE?) and version. The site being viewed is also helpful. Thanks.

When this problem started to happen.... had you recently uprgraded the Windows Media Player 11?
My HP supports thinks it may have something to do with it. They suggested I uninstall and go back to WMP 10. I have not yet done this, as I have the NERO program to use without receiving the error messages... and the Sonic program still works.. just get the error popups when closing program.

I've just started getting this error message myself now after upgrading(?) from WMP 10 to WMP 11. Anyone found an answer to this yet? or do you just live with it? As you say, Sonic does still work ok.
Help apprciated.

I guess that we've narrowed this down to a Windows issue. Should probably move it to that forum.

Please tell us more about your situation. Did you update Media Player lately, etc. This is either going to turn out to be a virus or an update issue so we need to know what your Windows version is in order to help others. Thanks.

To reiterate what NeoPa stated much earlier in this thread: Memory Reference Errors such as this are caused by programmer error. Typically these come from users giving the program unexpected input, but the causes can be anything under the sun. We will not be able to give you any good solution except to uninstall the affected program, completely delete the associated folders (C:\Program Files\ProgramName, C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\ProgramName, and C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\My Documents\ProgramName"...etc) and completely reinstall the program.

You should remove the codec as well. May I ask which codec pack you installed?

Of course the obvious solution, to this as to so many problems, is to use a real browser instead of IE.

Yep... This is the Windows forum. Not the M$ forum. There is no good reason to continue to use Internet Explorer. Period. Many browsers work much better. I particularly like Mozilla Firefox 2.

Agreed. And if you find a particular site that doesn't like Firefox (such as window update), you can alway stick it back at 'em with IE Tab.

Not a problem, this kind of error could be anything. Yes it did take some time to figure out but found the problem when I was doing support on a pc. And after installing Netlimiter v1.3 it all started. Netlimiter 2.0 works fine btw.

Hi everyone!
I'm new here and this is my first ever post :)

I actually have a similar message, when I start a web browser like firefox or Iexplorer. This message appears:

The instruction at "0x00521482" referenced memory at "0x00521482". The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of "0x000009c".

I decided to post when I read kss688u's reply about media player. I actually started having that problem when I updated my Media Player to v.11 !!

I'm gonna try to go back to my previous version.

Well, first I retried to uninstall Media Player.
Went to safe mode, erased the Media Player's folder, then came back into normal mode and uninstalled what was left of the player through the control panel.

Still had the same problem. So I used Spybot. It found 39 errors and repaired them all. Then I used Adaware 2007. It didn't find any problems. I also ran AVG Free Edition, which didn't find and virus, but I was still receiving the same error message when trying to go on the internet through firefox and ie.

Next thing I did is I decided to simply re-install firefox and ie. Firefox started to finally work, but M$'s IE still gave me the same error. A few moments later Windows made an automatic update, rebooted the laptop and the problem seems to be finally gone...

Now I just have to fix WoW, because it gives me the same message lol

Thank you very much for all the help!

HI All

we are receiving this error with a 3rd party application that we are aware is dodgy. I was wondering though if anyone knows how to supress this error from coming up in a msg box on screen and sends it only to event viewer or something?

The error is one issues itself but when this msg appears on a server no other users can log on thus rendering the server useless. If we could supress this msg we would at least have a work around.

thanks for your time
Cheers

this problem occurs with the codecs. i always got this problem until i found the correct codecs. i use klite mega codec pack. it has all the codecs anyone will need. for some of the codecs, it will need a little bit of tweaking to get it right. the site to get it is http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm . to tweak it, go to start, all programs, klite codec pack, configuration, ffshow video decoder

on the left side of the screen at the very top, make sure u r in codecs
go down the list on the right and all of the ones that have only libavcodec as an option, choose that one, or else choose the other one. make sure that all the ones you can get enabled are enabled. there is one option at the very bottom (avisynth) that wont have any codecs for it. and another one(raw video) just make it so it is at all suported.

this will work on almost any computer (windows based all os)

why can't people just read the thread. its an unexpected programmer error that could be caused by a multitude of problems.
Jul 28 '10 #49
Close any other programs that are currently running.
Increase your system's VIRTUAL MEMORY SIZE and make sure that you have at least several hundred megabytes free on your system's hard drive.
If you still get this message, consider adding additional memory (RAM) to your system.
