which computer language should I pick?

ok im just starting out and trying to learn computer language but i have no idea where to start or what the best language to start with is. Can any one help me?

WhiteRider is right on, here... Try python.
IMO, it's the easiest for beginners and powerful enough to build complete applications (I don't use anything else on a regular basis).

Yes, WhiteRider, I'll move this to Misc. Q.s for more general exposure.
