getaddrinfo: no address associated with hostname

hi all,
i have just installd ruby/rails

when i enter http://localhost:3000 i receive the message in the Subject of this email
i cannot figure out what i am missing....

could anyone help? i am running ruby on my laptop @home.

It could be a firewall issue or you're not connected to the internet or behind a proxy.
